Softball Preview: Fallbrook Warriors vs. La Costa Canyon Mavericks        
        
		
            
 Fallbrook is 0-6 against La Costa Canyon since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Monday. The Fallbrook Warriors will look to defend their home field  against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 4:00  p.m. Both teams come into the  matchup bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Fallbrook will roll into the  contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any  runs  on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Valley Center  on Thursday. Fallbrook put the hurt on Valley Center with a sharp  14-5 victory.
  Hana Winton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Winton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in 16 consecutive pitching appearances. Winton was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with a  home run, three  runs,  and four  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Paige Abeyta was  incredible,  going 5-for-5 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Another player making a difference was  Olivia Castillo, who  went 2-for-4 with a  home run and two  runs.
 Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for La Costa Canyon, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  last Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Torrey Pines  a   3-0 shutout  on Wednesday.
 Like Fallbrook, La Costa Canyon also got a great game from a two-way player:  Norah Coulsell. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over seven innings pitched. Coulsell was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-2 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Coulsell wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Malia Whitehouse, who  went 2-for-3 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Fallbrook pushed their record up to 7-10-2 with that  win, which was their third straight  on the road. As for La Costa Canyon, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record  this season.
