Baseball Game Preview: Barker Bulldogs vs. Perry Yellowjackets

The Barker Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Perry Yellowjackets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Perry took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Barker, who comes in off a win.

Barker barely beat Newfane the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 6-0 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Panthers since April 27, 2022.

Not much got past Jackson Prynn, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Newfane off the board. Prynn also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Barker is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Barker's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Monaco, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Tristen Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Geneseo hit Perry with a 14-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 19-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost six in a row.

Maximus Siewert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Barker's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Perry, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
