Recap: New Hope Trojans vs. Corinth Warriors
The New Hope Trojans put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 62-48 win over Corinth. Given New Hope's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Corinth is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayden Harris, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harris pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Preston Crump, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
New Hope's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Corinth, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
New Hope will head out on the road to face off against West Point at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Point knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully New Hope likes a good challenge. Corinth will be home for the holidays to greet Clarksdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarksdale is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
