Baseball Game Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Lake Park Lancers

For the second straight game, St. Charles East will face off against Lake Park. The Fighting Saints will venture away from home to take on the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

St. Charles East took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Park, sneaking past 8-7. The game snapped a strange streak: the last three times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Joey Arend made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, James Feigleson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Andrew Zolna, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

St. Charles East pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Lake Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
