Recap: Northwest Texans vs. Abilene Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Northwest Texans can now relate to. They fell 27-16 to the Eagles on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Northwest had strong showings from Saheed Durodoye, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown, and Kobey Wall, who picked up 77 receiving yards and a touchdown. Durodoye has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played.
Abilene had a senior duo take command as Chad Lara rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry and Dylan Slack threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Abilene's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Northwest's QB won't forget Jadrian Carillo anytime soon given Carillo sacked him twice.
Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Abilene, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Abilene is on the road again on Friday and play against Aledo at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Aledo will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
