Soccer Game Preview: Austin-East vs. Cocke County

The Austin-East Roadrunners will venture away from home to challenge the Cocke County Fighting Cocks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Austin-East barely beat Gibbs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Roadrunners' defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Austin-East in their matchups with Gibbs: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Cocke County hadn't done well against Seymour recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Fighting Cocks put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 6-1 victory. The win was familiar territory for Cocke County, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Cocke County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Austin-East, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Austin-East might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Cocke County when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Roadrunners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
