Softball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

Lincoln has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.83 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against the Oxford Yellow Jackets, falling 12-4. The Golden Bears haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Aubrey Machen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Kinsley Crow was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Even though they lost, Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive games.

Lincoln suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 9-3. As for Oxford, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Lincoln and Oxford's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Lincoln will take on Ohatchee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, a squad that's only allowed 2.75 runs per game. Lincoln is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Similarly, Oxford and White Plains (who has only given up two runs per game) will meet at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
