Softball Preview: Countryside Cougars vs. River Ridge Royal Knights

Countryside is 0-3 against River Ridge since March of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Cougars will square off against the Royal Knights at 6:00 p.m. River Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Countryside, who comes in off a win.

Countryside proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Clearwater Central Catholic 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 16, 2024.

Kaitlyn Crouch made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Not much got past Lilly Jackson, who gave up just seven hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Mitchell off the board. Jackson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

River Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Countryside, their record now sits at 3-11.
