Basketball Recap: Cheraw Piles Up the Points Against Albemarle

Cheraw can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 67-40 stomp they got against the Albemarle Bulldogs. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 203rd in South Carolina, while the Bulldogs are ranked 632nd in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Cheraw to victory were De'Shaun Drake and Elijah McClain. Drake posted 24 points, while McClain had 17 points. The dominant performance gave Drake a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Ford, who put up eight points.

Cheraw's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Albemarle, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Cheraw didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-40 defeat against Richmond on the 3rd. As for Albemarle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-36 loss against South Stanly on the 7th.
