Baseball Game Preview: Lakewood Park Christian Panthers vs. Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers

The Lakewood Park Christian Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Lakewood Park Christian has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 14th.

Lakewood Park Christian's last matchup with Prairie Heights could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Saturday. Lakewood Park Christian came up short against Prairie Heights, falling 15-1. Surprisingly, this marked Lakewood Park Christian's fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Canterbury made easy work of Muncie Burris on Saturday and carried off a 10-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavaliers.

The team relied heavily on Parker Evans, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Hayes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Fort Wayne Canterbury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Fort Wayne Canterbury pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lakewood Park Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Lakewood Park Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Wayne Canterbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
