Basketball Recap: Walsh Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stanton County, Walsh was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 69-13 win over the Manzanola Bobcats. The game marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Leading Walsh to victory were Kayla Penick and Averi Kunselman. Penick posted 17 points in addition to eight steals and five boards, while Kunselman went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. Those 13 points gave Kunselman a new career-high. Aurora Ramirez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Walsh was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Manzanola saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chasity Chavez put up six points.
