Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Ridge Ravens vs. Mead Mavericks

The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will face off against the Mead Mavericks at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Riverdale Ridge saw some tournament action back in December of 2024. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thomas Jefferson.

Defeat or not, Riverdale Ridge got some senior leadership from Dylan Nieto and Logan Mestas. Nieto went 9 of 18 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds, while Mestas went 8 of 16 en route to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nieto has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wildhagen, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Riverdale Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thomas Jefferson only pulled down four offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Mead also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Legacy by a score of 65-54.

Riverdale Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mead, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Riverdale Ridge came up short against Mead in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, falling 61-50. Can Riverdale Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
