Basketball Game Preview: East Lake Eagles vs. Springstead Eagles

East Lake will head out on the road to face off against Springstead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Springstead likes a good challenge.

East Lake is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Calvary Christian just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 61-56 to the Warriors. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite their defeat, East Lake saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jeremiah Cooper, who went 10-for-16 on his way to 23 points and seven boards, was perhaps the best of all. Thanks to that strong game, Cooper now owns an excellent 46.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Bryant, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Springstead played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Wildwood and fell 66-15. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-8.

East Lake will have to contain TJ Waite as he made an impact in Springstead's last game. He posted eight points.

Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for East Lake, the defeat was their first on the road, dropping their record down to 12-2.

Everything came up roses for East Lake against Springstead in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 64-22 win. In that matchup, East Lake amassed a halftime lead of 40-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
