Baseball Recap: Heights' Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Heights can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Adam Torres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Heights is 6-1 when Torres allows two or fewer earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Torres was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Torres wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Garcia, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Mateo Quintanilla was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Heights' record now sits at 13-10. As for Houston Math Science & Tech, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-7.

Heights will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
