Basketball Game Preview: Half Moon Bay Cougars vs. St. Mary's Rams

Half Moon Bay hasn't had much luck against St. Mary recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. Half Moon Bay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Half Moon Bay is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 77-62 victory over Priory last Friday.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's suffered their closest loss since February 16th on Saturday. They fell just short of Tokay by a score of 65-63.

Half Moon Bay will have to keep a close watch on Will Stephens and Jonah Millonida, a pair of players who had a big impact on St. Mary's prior game. Stephens posted 19 points and four steals, while Millonida had 12 points and seven rebounds. Those four steals gave Stephens a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Krause, who put up four points and six rebounds.

St. Mary's now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Half Moon Bay, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Half Moon Bay came up short against St. Mary's in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 54-50. Can Half Moon Bay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
