Flag Football Game Preview: University Red Devils vs. Novato Hornets

University is 0-3 against Novato since October of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Red Devils will look to defend their home field against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m.

On Monday, University ended up a good deal behind San Marin and lost 25-6. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 656th, while the Mustangs are ranked 194th).

Meanwhile, while Novato put up plenty of points on Monday, the same can't be said for San Rafael. The Hornets breezed past the Bulldogs to the tune of 38-0. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 27 points or more this season.

Novato is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.4 points on average over those games. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

University took a serious blow against Novato in their previous matchup back in September, falling 36-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Hornets' Seanna Madsen, who threw for 188 yards and three TDs. Now that the Red Devils know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
