Basketball Recap: Kaelyse Mitchell Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

Evansville Reitz won the last time they faced Jasper and things went their way on Thursday too. The Evansville Reitz Panthers came out on top against the Jasper Wildcats by a score of 50-37. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Wildcats are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evansville Reitz's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaelyse Mitchell led the charge by going 8 for 14 en route to 17 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Brilyn Staley, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points.

Evansville Reitz is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 15-4 record this season. As for Jasper, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8-1.
