Preview: Ira Bulldogs vs. Westbrook Wildcats
After six games on the road, Ira is heading back home. They will take on the Westbrook Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Ira has not done well against Hermleigh recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Ira walked away with a 51-43 victory over Hermleigh.
Meanwhile, Westbrook scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Trent for the full four quarters, racking up a 81-10 win on the road. Westbrook has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westbrook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan King, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Browne, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Ira's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Westbrook, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Ira was able to grind out a solid win over Westbrook in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 67-57. Does Ira have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westbrook turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
