Soccer Recap: Syracuse Wins High-Profile Game Against Fremont

Syracuse faced Fremont in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Syracuse never let Fremont get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. That's two games straight that Syracuse have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Emery Smith, who's now up to two this season.

The win (which was Syracuse's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Fremont, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.

As for Fremont, they will square off against Layton at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Fremont's defense better be ready for this one: Layton has averaged an impressive 2.8 goals per game this season.
