With a playoff win on the line, Dr. Maya Angelou Community rose to the challenge on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Taft Toreadors a 3-0 shutout. Considering the Phoenix have won eight matches by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Dr. Maya Angelou Community, bringing their record for this year to 14-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those six games. As for Taft, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Dr. Maya Angelou Community will take on Sylmar at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sylmar's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
