Softball Recap: Union County Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Union County won the last time they faced Edinburgh and things went their way on Saturday too. The Patriots walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Lancers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Kamora Klingman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Union County let Ally Gray and Natalie Long run wild. Gray went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Long got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Long has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braylen Rudnick, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Union County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edinburgh struck out nine times.

Union County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Edinburgh, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union County will host Lawrenceburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Edinburgh, they will welcome Indian Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
