The West Geauga Wolverines will take on the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Geauga will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
West Geauga barely beat Geneva the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 13-4 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
Lely Percassi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Ava Borz was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Dayana Malone was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 22 runs the game before, Wickliffe was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They fell 5-1 to Madison. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Wickliffe also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Leigha Blazetic gave up five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Blazetic has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Wickliffe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Prosuch, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
With the loss, Wickliffe broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3. As for West Geauga, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. West Geauga hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Wickliffe struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs.
