Baseball Game Preview: Caldwell Academy Eagles vs. High Point Christian Academy Cougars

Caldwell Academy is 0-10 against High Point Christian Academy since March of 2019 but things could change on Monday. Caldwell Academy will head out on the road to take on High Point Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. Caldwell Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Caldwell Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Salem Baptist Christian 19-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brett Bullins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Bullins was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Caldwell Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Spencer McBurney was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Caldwell Academy is 4-1 when McBurney posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Reid Silvers, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Caldwell Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, High Point Christian Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Wildcats.

High Point Christian Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Caldwell Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Caldwell Academy suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to High Point Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Caldwell Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
