Basketball Recap: Bradenton Christian Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Cambridge Christian last Tuesday, Bradenton Christian came back down to earth. The Bradenton Christian Panthers took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northside Christian Mustangs on Thursday. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 16-12 in the first quarter.

Northside Christian found their leader in sophomore Elijah Ahlers, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. The match was Ahlers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaycen White, who posted 18 points and three steals.

Bradenton Christian's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8. As for Northside Christian, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bradenton Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Winthrop College Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northside Christian, they and Clearwater Central Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Clearwater Central Catholic will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Northside Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
