Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Spellman Pilots vs. Moore Catholic Mavericks

Cardinal Spellman is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Moore Catholic is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pilots will host the Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cardinal Spellman 0.5, Moore Catholic 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Cardinal Spellman will bounce into Friday's match after beating St. Peter's, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Pilots' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 2-0 shutout on Thursday.

On the hitting side, T.J. GRAZIANO was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). MATTHEW DOYLE was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Moore Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cardinal Spellman's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Moore Catholic, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.
