Softball Recap: Archbishop McCarthy Triumphs

Archbishop McCarthy won the last time they faced St. Thomas Aquinas and things went their way on Wednesday too. Archbishop McCarthy came out on top against St. Thomas Aquinas by a score of 6-1.

Sienna Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Varona was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Izabel Baron was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Archbishop McCarthy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Thomas Aquinas only posted a batting average of .192.

Archbishop McCarthy's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop McCarthy will host Lourdes Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cardinal Gibbons at 6:30 p.m. Cardinal Gibbons will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something St. Thomas Aquinas surely won't give up without a fight.
