Softball Recap: Oakland Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Oakland dropped their record down to 20-5-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilson Central Wildcats. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Oakland saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Minnick, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Wilson Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

On Wilson Central's side, Jordan Hawkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Mallory Lee was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Julia Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Oakland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-2 victory against Rockvale on the 5th. As for Wilson Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-0 win against LaVergne on the 1st.
