Orlando Cobos-Sosa commands the offense for Jackrabbits win

The Kansas School for the Deaf Jackrabbits came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 36-32 W over Oklahoma School for the Deaf. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Kansas School for the Deaf also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2017.

Kansas School for the Deaf's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Orlando Cobos-Sosa led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Cobos-Sosa posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Eli Grove, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Oklahoma School for the Deaf still got an impressive performance from RyJan Reininger, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Reininger has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Russell Fewel was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.

Even though they lost, Oklahoma School for the Deaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kansas School for the Deaf only pulled down an offensive rebound.

Kansas School for the Deaf pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Oklahoma School for the Deaf, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3.

Kansas School for the Deaf and Marie Philip will face off at 3:30 p.m. on January 14th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Marie Philip: 29.6, Kansas School for the Deaf: 25.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Oklahoma School for the Deaf won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tournament Opponent at 12:30 p.m. on January 14th.
