Softball Game Preview: Rancho Cucamonga Cougars vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

Rancho Cucamonga hasn't had much luck against Upland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Highlanders/Scots at 3:15 p.m. Rancho Cucamonga will be strutting in after a victory while Upland will be coming in after a defeat.

Rancho Cucamonga barely beat Apple Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Sun Devils 9-1 on Wednesday. The Cougars not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th (when they won 14-4).

The team relied heavily on Anaya Burley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Janelle Duran was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Upland has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.61 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell 11-8 to Chino Hills. That makes it the first time this season the Highlanders/Scots have let down their home crowd.

The win got Rancho Cucamonga back to even at 10-10. As for Upland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Rancho Cucamonga might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Upland in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
