Football Game Preview: Byron Tigers vs. Durand/Pecatonica Rivermen

The Byron Tigers will head out to square off against the Durand/Pecatonica Rivermen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Byron against Winnebago as the team secured a 55-7 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Indians are ranked 351st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Durand/Pecatonica got themselves on the board against Pearl City-Eastland on Friday, but Pearl City-Eastland never followed suit. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 38-0 victory over the Wildcats. The Rivermen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 32 points or more this season.

Durand/Pecatonica's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Byron, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Byron against Durand/Pecatonica when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 63-15 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Rivermen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
