Baseball Recap: West Mesa Finds Home Field Redemption Against Highland

West Mesa's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Valencia on Tuesday. Everything went West Mesa's way against the Highland Hornets as West Mesa made off with a 15-5 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Armoni Baca made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for West Mesa: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. West Mesa is undefeated when Rodriguez posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ayden Gonzales, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

West Mesa pushed their record up to 6-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Highland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7-1.
