Soccer Game Preview: Mauston vs. Assumption

Mauston is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to take on the Assumption Royals at 5:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mauston is leaving town to face Assumption after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Golden Eagles lost 6-0 to Sparta on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for Mauston in their meetings with Sparta: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Assumption fell victim to Wausau West and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Assumption have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mauston might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Assumption when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
