Baseball Recap: Independence/Gilmanton Comes Up Short

Independence/Gilmanton lost against Eleva-Strum back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indees fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 5-4.

Independence/Gilmanton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The Indees are 2-1 when Lopez posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

Independence/Gilmanton dropped their record down to 6-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eleva-Strum, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Coincidentally, Independence/Gilmanton and Eleva-Strum will both be playing Osseo-Fairchild the next time they take the field. The Cardinals will head out to face the Thunder at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Indees will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
