Baseball Game Preview: Channel Islands Raiders vs. Kearny Komets

For the second straight game, Channel Islands will face off against Kearny. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Komets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Channel Islands had just enough and edged out Kearny 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Gavin Marin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Marin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cesar Jimenez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Channel Islands now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Kearny, they moved to 6-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Channel Islands has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
