Van Alstyne dropped down to 5-4 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were outmatched by the Farmersville Farmers and fell 71-37. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Farmers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2018.
As for Farmersville, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.
Koby Chavez produced another solid effort shooting 67% from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 43.3% three-point shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Swain Jr, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points.
Looking ahead, Van Alstyne will host Wakeland at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Wolverines have now posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Farmersville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 87-79 defeat against Paris on the 6th.
