Basketball Game Preview: North Shore Mustangs vs. King Panthers

The North Shore Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the King Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Saturday, North Shore lost to Atascocita at home by a 50-36 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the defeat, North Shore saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rashaad Williams posted eight points. Marcus Walker was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, King had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 48-31.

King's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for North Shore, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-11.

North Shore couldn't quite finish off King in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 59-57. Can North Shore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
