Softball Game Preview: Alhambra Lions vs. Mountain Pointe Pride

The Alhambra Lions will challenge the Mountain Pointe Pride at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alhambra's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Alhambra lost 16-1 to ALA - Gilbert North on Tuesday.

Alhambra saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miranda Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Mountain Pointe can bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Desert Edge 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pride have posted since April 4, 2024.

Lauryn Chavez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Samantha Graves was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Leilani Chavez, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mountain Pointe picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 8-17-1. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
