Football Recap: Midtown Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Midtown lost against M.L. King back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Knights were beaten by the Lions 40-6. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Lions are ranked 144th).

Even if they lost, Midtown's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Mylik Benoit was especially locked on to M.L. King's QB and sacked him twice. Benoit is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

M.L. King's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javion Dobbs, who threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt. Jaylen Robinson was in the mix too, providing the Lions with two scores.

This is the second loss in a row for Midtown and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for M.L. King, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Midtown is set to square off against their familiar foe Pace Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, M.L. King will take on rival Mays at 7:31 p.m. on the 10th.
