Baseball Game Preview: Faribault Falcons vs. Austin Packers

The Faribault Falcons will head out to square off against the Austin Packers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Faribault has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Austin will arrive with three straight wins.

Albert Lea hit Faribault with a eight-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 13-0 to the Tigers.

Meanwhile, Austin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Northfield on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Packers have won by just one run.

Austin's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jonah Klein, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Kam Lundberg also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Faribault's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Austin, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Faribault beat Austin 5-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Packers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
