Softball Recap: Boston Latin Wolfpack vs. Acton-Boxborough Revolution
Boston Latin had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it 11. They lost 18-3 to the Acton-Boxborough Revolution. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolfpack of the 7-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Boston Latin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cortney Lenz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Kayla Connolly also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Acton-Boxborough, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.
On Acton-Boxborough's side, Ila Gillespie was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cassidy Ford was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boston Latin will challenge Brookline at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Acton-Boxborough, they will welcome Bedford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Buccaneers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Revolution's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
