Preview: Holy Family Tigers vs. Mead Mavericks
Holy Family has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Mead Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Holy Family knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Mead likes a good challenge.
Holy Family can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Longmont 56-33. Given Holy Family's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Longmont is ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Holy Family's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexcia Oaxaca, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Altshuler, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Mead had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 58-18 win over Centaurus at home. With Mead ahead 42-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Holy Family's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Mead, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
Holy Family won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2023, slipping by Mead 45-44. Does Holy Family have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mead turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
