Basketball Recap: Pueblo Warriors vs. Safford Bulldogs
Pueblo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Safford Bulldogs. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Pueblo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marcos Lopez dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Anthony Carranza was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.
Pueblo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Safford, their record is now 2-5.
Pueblo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-58 loss against Morenci on the 19th. As for Safford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-42 defeat against Tanque Verde on the 20th.
