Basketball Game Preview: New Caney Eagles vs. College Park Cavaliers

New Caney hasn't had much luck against College Park recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The New Caney Eagles will face off against the College Park Cavaliers at 1:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, New Caney didn't have quite enough to beat Cleveland and fell 51-48. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely College Park's strategy against Cleveland on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that College Park blew Cleveland out of the water with an 80-31 final score. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 24 points or more this season.

New Caney better keep an eye on Ian Inman. He was instrumental in College Park's win, going 11 for 19 on his way to 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Francisco Cantillo Mulonga, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

College Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

College Park is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for New Caney, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.

New Caney might still be hurting after the 67-46 defeat they got from College Park in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for New Caney, Martez James (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
