League recap: Cedar Crest's Bawiec delivers best pitching performance from past week

Lancaster-Lebanon 1 league recap: 4/3/13

Lancaster-Lebanon 1's top pitcher this week was Cedar Crest's Conor Bawiec. Over the past week, he racked up one win and 11 strikeouts.

Hempfield and Manheim Township are tied atop the standings of the league, leaving first place open for the taking.

Cedar Crest put four runners on via walks this week, fewest in the league, but the Black Knights' staff still boasts the league's best control, having issued only ten bases on balls over 27 total innings.

Ten batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Lazaro Duvergel, who collected five hits in five at bats for a 1.000 average.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Bawiec, who turned in 11 Ks for Cedar Crest. With 17 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Hempfield's Cory Gantz struck out nine Lancaster Catholic hitters en route to a 3-0 victory on March 28. Over seven innings of work, he gave up three hits and zero runs.

Bawiec threw a shutout as he led the Falcons to victory over Northern Lebanon, 2-0, on Wednesday. He struck out seven, allowing one hit.
