Soccer Game Preview: Pike County vs. Salem

The Pike County Pirates will challenge the Salem Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pike County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Pike County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Stephens County a 1-0 shutout. Pike County wouldn't have won without Carter York, who scored the game-winner.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salem). They were the clear victors by a 6-2 margin over Redan on Tuesday. Considering Salem have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Pike County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Salem, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
