Baseball Game Preview: Western Heights Jets vs. Del City Eagles

For the second straight game, Western Heights will face off against Del City. The Jets will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Western Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Del City by a score of 9-4.

Caden Wiebusch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Akin Aguillard, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has become a key player for Western Heights: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 8-10 otherwise. Kole Schrock was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Western Heights pushed their record up to 10-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Del City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-22.
