Softball Recap: Monona Grove Takes a Loss

Monona Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 4-1 to the Oregon Panthers. The Silver Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Brooklyn Vanden Branden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Monona Grove's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Oregon, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Monona Grove is set to take on their familiar foe Milton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Oregon will challenge rival DeForest at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
