Basketball Recap: Newton Eagles vs. Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves
Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. The game between them and the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves didn't end well, with the Newton Eagles falling 47-32. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-27 back in January.
Pineywoods Community Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaziel Reyes out in front who went 5 of 7 to rack up 14 points and five assists. Reyes is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gunner Carnes, who posted 13 points and three steals.
Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 16-14 record this season.
Newton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-13 loss against Central Heights on the 31st. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 45-43 defeat against Pollok Central on the 31st.
