Zach Statz Turns in Season-Best Effort

Haxtun was led to victory by Zach Statz, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Saturday. Statz rushed for 141 yards and four touchdowns on only six carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.

The victory was the tenth in a row for Haxtun, bringing their record for this year to 10-1. Statz's next match is against Mancos on Saturday, where he'll look to repeat that solid effort.

Ryland Wolff and Co. Win Tenth in a Row

Haxtun picked up their tenth consecutive win on Saturday thanks in part to Ryland Wolff. Wolff made two total tackles. The effort also marked the most rushing yards (193) he has had since back in November of 2023. His longest rush was for an incredible 97 yards.

Filla Made His Presence Known in Akron's 28-6 Win

Anderson Filla's big game helped extend Akron's winning streak to five on Saturday. Filla was dynamite, rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Sedgwick County's probably not too fond of Filla given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October (the last time Filla saw the Cougars), he rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Caleb Poss Makes It Two for Akron

Another Akron player making an appearance on this list is Caleb Poss. He picked up 54 receiving yards and a touchdown.

On the season, Poss has caught 3 touchdowns while averaging 22.5 receiving yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after ten games last season, he was only averaging 5.8 receiving yards per game.

Haxtun Wins Tenth-Straight Thanks to Coleman Firme

Coleman Firme was instrumental in extending Haxtun's winning streak to ten on Saturday. Sanford had no answer to Firme as he rushed for 29 yards.

For the season, Firme has averaged 24.9 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging eight rushing yards per game.
