Volleyball Recap: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Glass Hilltoppers
Rustburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Glass Hilltoppers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-18, 25-12.
Kaylee Wooten paced Rustburg's offense, picking up six kills. Wooten got some help from Baylee Cash and her nine assists. Finally, Peyton Wright kept Rustburg's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Leading Glass to victory were Mary McCloskey and Elleri Turille. McCloskey had nine digs and four aces, while Turille had 27 assists and four digs. Turille is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season.
Rustburg's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Glass, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
